Fiachna Ó Braonáin

Fiachna Ó Braonáin was born in Dublin, Ireland.. a child of the sixties! Raised on a childhood diet of traditional Irish music, language and song his teenage years brought him into the wild waters of blues guitar and rock ‘n roll. Having had his mind blown by traditional music sessions in the Dún an Óir hotel in Kerry, in the Geantraí of the Cultúrlann and in the halls and passageways of Coláiste Eoin he witnessed Alexis Korner talking about Muddy Waters, john Lee Hooker and early Rolling Stones on the BBC. Something gave, and his mothers Spanish guitar became the focus of his existence.
From then on, jumping between jigs, reels and sean nós to stripping paint off the walls with electric guitar solos became the order of the day… and the night. His musical exploits with Ireland’s Hothouse Flowers are well documented and his more recent adventures stepping from side to centre stage with his new band PreNup fulfil many lifelong urges.. urges to grow and renew, to write and rewrite, to sing and to play.. to create! Based in recent years in Paris, France, a city with which he has a lifelong love affair he is currently writing new songs, working on music for TV and developing his latest music project, Afric, in which he is blending traditional Irish and South African music.
